Welcome to Help Us Help UHelp Us Help U, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to raising HIV awareness and providing prevention, testing, and counseling.

Human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV, is the virus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). The virus weakens a person's ability to fight infections and cancer. People with HIV are said to have AIDS when they develop certain infections or cancers or when their CD4 count is less than 200. CD4 count is determined by a blood test in a doctor's office.

Having HIV does not always mean that you have AIDS. It can take many years for people with the virus to develop AIDS. HIV and AIDS cannot be cured. Although people with AIDS will likely one day die from an AIDS-related illness, there are ways to help people stay healthy and live longer.

At the end of 2008, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) estimated 1,178,350 persons aged 13 and older were living with HIV infection in the United States. Of those, 20% had undiagnosed HIV infections.

Early knowledge of HIV infection is now recognized as a critical component in controlling the spread of HIV infection. Therefore, HIV counseling, testing, and referral (CTR) is a critical part of any successful HIV prevention program. For this reason, awareness efforts and testing are at the core of our mission.  Through health fairs and other community based events we will achieve our goals.
